Health Foundation awards two new grants to support Alcohol Prevention and Healthy Kids Initiatives

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded two grants totaling more than $755,000 under the Shift + and Healthy Kids Initiatives. The purpose of the Shift+ initiative is to reduce underage drinking and binge drinking in all ages, and the Healthy Kids initiative’s goal is to improve a range of healthy outcomes by engaging disconnected youth in high quality programs during out-of-school hours.

Funded organizations are:

Fundación del Empresariado Chihuahuense A.C. - $132,452.10
2020-21 Alianza Paso del Norte Health Foundation y Fundación del Empresariado Chihuahuense
To continue and sustain the Responsible Merchant Training Program and the “Yo Tomo Buenas Decisiones” (I Make Good Decisions) campaign to alcohol retail outlets and continue to monitor alcohol prevention policies in Ciudad Juárez, MX.

United Way of El Paso County - $632,051.00
2020 Healthy Kids: Healthy Kids Backbone Organization
To serve as the Backbone Organization (BBO) for the Healthy Kids Priority Area and advance efforts in grantee support and technical assistance, capacity building, public relations, and management and sustainability of the BOOST Network.
