New resources available to help those diagnosed with diabetes

December 14, 2021

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation, El Paso Center for Diabetes, and Diabetes Alliance have partnered to launch the Diabetes: Now What? campaign to help people across El Paso prevent or manage diabetes.

The Now What? campaign uses a variety of communication outlets to connect individuals with valuable information regarding diabetes including a website of resources https://epdiabetes.org with links to accredited diabetes prevention programs, diabetes self-management courses, support groups, helpful apps, cooking classes, and tips for lifestyle changes in the form of videos and easy-to-read fact sheets.

Thanks to an innovative partnership with Walgreens and Macy’s, life-sized cut-outs of real El Pasoans with diabetes were displayed during the month of November. These displays can still be found at Walgreens and include QR codes that you can easily scan from your phone, which will immediately link to the Now What? website. The display also includes informational cards in English and Spanish that you can take and share with family and friends with diabetes or recently diagnosed.

The Health Foundation and El Paso Center for Diabetes post information on their Facebook and Instagram pages with additional information on the Now What? campaign and resources. Several posts feature El Pasoans who share their unique journey with diabetes, diabetes community organization partners, and basic diabetes awareness information. The New Year is just around the corner and the time to make changes is now. You are not alone! Visit https://epdiabetes.org.
