The Paso del Norte Health Foundation seeks Letters of Intent (LOIs) from eligible organizations to promote the Health Foundation’s Strategic Plan for Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL) Initiative.
Applicants are encouraged to download and read the HEAL Strategic Plan. The Paso del Norte Institute for Health Living serves as the Health Foundation’s backbone organization for the HEAL priority area and evaluates the HEAL programs. Town of Anthony, Texas adopts a smoke-free ordinance

Recently, Mayor Martin Lerma, Alderman Shawn Weeks and the Anthony Council unanimously approved an ordinance that will prohibit the smoking of both commercial and electronic cigarettes in restaurants, bars, parks, and playgrounds.
The Public and Workplace Smoking Restrictions ordinance prohibits smoking in all enclosed properties, open spaces within or between enclosed facilities, outside areas within 20 feet of a doorway, and all properties owned or leased by the Town of Anthony, Texas. Foundation awards grants to support Healthy Kids

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded five grants totaling more than $499,000 under the Healthy Kids Priority Area – IGNITE Initiative. The purpose of the IGNITE Initiative is to improve a range of health outcomes by engaging disconnected youth in the Paso del Norte region in high quality programs during out of school hours.

Thanks to work by the YMCA of El Paso (the backbone organization of the Paso del Norte Health Foundation’s Shift+ initiative), El Paso has become a leading city across Texas and the nation for addressing and curbing underage drinking.

New Mexico State University’s (NMSU) Dietetic Internship Program recently received a grant from the Paso del Norte Health Foundation’s HEAL Initiative to increase the number of qualified registered dietitians/nutritionists in the region.
